Description:

The Scarlet Pimpernel

They seek him here… they seek him there…

The Scarlet Pimpernel is an action packed show, filled with daring rescues and flashy sword fights. This classic tale is set against the backdrop of the French revolution and the ‘reign of terror,’ 1794. Sir Percy Blakeney and his league of gentlemen deliberately play the fop so as to hide their true activity of saving would-be victims of the guillotine. However, Chauvelin, the French government’s most hard hearted devotee, is out to stop all who try to save the victims of the guillotine — especially the mysterious hero, the Scarlet Pimpernel.

Based on Baroness Orczy’s famous 20th century novel about the French Revolution, the book and lyrics by Nan Knighton are at times funny and at others horrifying while Frank Wildhorn’s music is moving and passionate.

Join the talented cast from Newington College supported by girls from PLC Sydney and Santa Sabina College as they take you on the courageous journey full of disguise, intrigue, deceit and honour.
