We catch up with Charlie Jones – Who is currently touring as a singer in Cirque du Soleil’s Saltimbanco.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A surgeon.

Who is/are the most important person/people in the world to you?
My parents… I have an amazing support network.

What animal best represents you and why?
An owl- because I am a night person.

If you were a contestant on Deal or No Deal, how much would you need to be on offer before you walked away?
Depends if I had a gig or not : )

What’s the worst date you’ve ever had?
I thought it was a date…he didn’t.. enough said!

Windows or MAC?
One year MAC convert.

Which Spice Girl was your favourite?
Scary.

Who is the actor you would be most like to work alongside?
Joaquin phoenix..

What five songs would be the first you put a mix tape?

What is the best thing about theatre in Australia?
The people.. I think we are generally a rather humble group compared to some other nations.

What is the worst thing about theatre in Australia?
It is a small pool.. a very small pool.. and there are so many very good swimmers.

Favourite food?
I have to write this for anyone who has done a show with me… sashimi

What was the first piece of theatre/film/TV you ever appeared in and how old were you? 
I was 5. Telemovie “The Fish are Safe”… The scene involved me asking someone for an ice-cream… I recall my mother breaking the news to me that the scene got cut… hideous age to start getting a thick skin.

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
Santa photograph at Christmas.. I learnt that most parents are worse than their children… If your child is crying and scared and does not want a picture, perhaps don’t tell them they have ruined Christmas….

What’s the first website you visit when you come online?
Hotmail

Name one moment when you looked around, breathed happily and felt content.
I was walking back from a show in Auckland recently and I was so content I actually skipped in the middle of the street.

Red or white?
Dress? Red…  My wine? White

Where is the most interesting place you have travelled?
I found Alaska to be an amazingly inspiring place.

Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?
I met Audra McDonald a few years ago singing on a cruise ship… she is so generous with her time.

Where do you see yourself in five years? 
I would really, really like a dog but if this gypsy lifestyle continues I think I may be dogless. This may seem rather trivial but when you are on tour it’s these things that count… If I could be singing the style of music I am currently singing in five years I would be very happy.?

What was the last thing you watched on TV?
Grand Designs.. obsessed… completely and utterly obsessed! I need to win the lotto.
