We catch up with Mark Trevorrow.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A journalist. And I was! After editing the high school paper (as a sensational tabloid) I started as a copyboy at 17 on the Herald Sun in Melbourne. Show business was the last thing on my mind… Well, almost!

Who is the most important person in the world to you?
My dear Mum. She lost my Dad, her partner, last February after 54 passionate years together.

What animal best represents you and why?
A dog. Loyal, greedy and eager to please but not very obedient. What breed is that? I’m a dog in Chinese years of birth too.

If you were a contestant on Deal or No Deal, how much would you need to be on offer before you walked away?
Enough for a taxi fare home from the Channel Seven studio.

What’s the worst date you’ve ever had?
New York, 1995 – he was gorgeous but a total Madonna freak. His apartment was a shrine and unfortunately I was a non believer. And then there was the speed freak who tried to drag me out onto his 39th floor balcony. Also in New York – I can pick em!

Windows or MAC?
Remington electric. Or a fountain pen. Or Betamax. I’m a bit retro.

Which Spice Girl was your favourite?
Mel C because she asked me for an autograph to give to Geri who was “my biggest fan!” I think it was Geri – but its true!

Who is the actor you would be most like to work alongside?
Meryl Streep. Drew Barrymore. Or Patrick from ‘Spongebob’ – he’d make me look good

What five songs would be the first you put a mix tape?
Don’t Leave Me This Way – Thelma Houston. Atomic – Blondie, Dancing Queen – ABBA, Twist And Shout – Beatles. Heroes – David Bowie, Nothing after 1980!

What is the best thing about theatre in Australia?
That it’s still there

What is the worst thing about theatre in Australia?
There’s not enough of it

Favourite food?
Haighs peppermint chocolate frogs

What would you do if you found a wallet on the ground?
Check if it was mine. If not, hand it in with ALL its contents. ‘Do unto others’ and all that.

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
Breakfast radio in Perth. My first Migraine in about 15 years.

What’s the first website you visit when you come online?
Can you rephrase that please?

Name one moment when you looked around, breathed happily and felt content
This afternoon – sitting in a bar with two people: my oldest and dearest friend, and the new love of my life

Red or white?
Pinot noir!

Where is the most interesting place you have travelled?
San Francisco.

Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?
The Queen. I played the Royal Variety Performance and she laughed.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Alive. And kicking!
