Blancmange and 7-On presents the new immersive performance, We Are The Ghosts Of The Future, from Friday 13 to Saturday 28 November as part of The Rocks Village Bizarre.

The drama will unfold in an 1858 sandstone warehouse in The Rocks, with audience members invited to wander freely through the building as fourteen performers and a musician transport them to another world.

The story takes place on a day in November, 1935 – the same day it so happens that beloved aviator Charles Kingsford-Smith was pronounced ‘missing’ when his plane vanished flying from London to Sydney.

Set throughout a 1930s boarding house, the lodgers mourn the disappearance of a national hero while also dealing with their own losses, loves and secrets. They include a war bride, a backroom abortionist, a child who idolises Kingsford-Smith, and other inhabitants of pre-war Sydney.

These people’s lives may now be forgotten but they have left faint traces, provoking the question: What will we leave behind, if anything, once history sweeps us away and Sydney transforms yet again?
In a poignant coup for the production, the show will feature Leofric Kingsford-Smith, the grandnephew of Kingsford-Smith. A seasoned theatre and television performer, Kingsford-Smith boasts credentials from London’s West End to the Sydney Opera House.

We Are The Ghosts Of The Future will open on 13th November 2015, exactly 80 years since Charles Kingsford-Smith was declared missing. Lending their support to the production is The Rocks Pop-Up, an initiative of Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority that finds creative uses for temporarily vacant buildings.

Competition closes 9 November at 6pm AEST. Winners will be contacted via email/phone.
