Australian singer/songwriter Lior performs beautiful cover of Fiddler on the Roof song

The new Australian production of Fiddler on the Roof has gotten off to a strong start, and as it prepares to move from Melbourne to Sydney, one of its cast members has given us a lovely treat.

Israeli-Australian singer/songwriter Lior, making his professional stage debut as Motel in this musical theatre classic, has recorded a cover of a beautiful song from the show: Hodel’s “Far From the Home I Love.”

Hodel (played in the current production by Monica Swayne) sings the song at a major turning point in her life: her husband Perchik (Blake Bowden) has been exiled to Siberia, and she has decided to leave her family and the only life she has ever known in the village of Anatevka to be with him. She must go, because love has “changed the shape of her dreams.”

Prepare for beauty!
