Brisbane season announced for My Fair Lady tour

Following yesterday’s ‘Loverly’ news that Opera Australia and John Frost’s production of My Fair Lady will be touring to Melbourne in May 2017, it was confirmed this morning that the show will also play a season at Brisbane’s Lyric Theatre QPAC.

Producers John Frost and Opera Australia’s Lyndon Terracini announced that the 60th anniversary production of Lerner & Loewe’s My Fair Lady will play seasons in both Brisbane (from 12 March) and Melbourne (from 11 May) once the Sydney season at the Joan Sutherland Theatre, Sydney Opera House is complete.

Australia’s Anna O’Byrne will star as Eliza Doolittle in all three seasons, and a full cast list for the tour will be revealed later this year.

This 60th anniversary production features recreated sets and costumes from the original Broadway run, with associates of the original design team onboard to help bring to life once again the stunning sets by Oliver Smith and glorious costumes by Cecil Beaton. The production is directed by the show’s original star, Dame Julie Andrews herself.

Contributing to the creative team is Tony-award winning choreographer Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, South Pacific), musical director Guy Simpson, Broadway and West End’s legendary lighting designer Richard Pilbrow and sound designer Michael Waters.

Tickets for the Brisbane and Melbourne season will go on sale in October.
