Broadway Unplugged returns to Sydney in 2013

Broadway Unplugged StageBroadway Unplugged, Sydney’s favourite industry event is returning for a new year of entertainment, kicking off at The Vanguard in Newtown on Monday January 25.

The monthly event is comprised of two segments – a showcase of established Australian artists performing short cabaret sets, and an open mic night for everyone to enjoy.

Featured performers at next week’s event will be Nic Kyle, Josie Lane and Janna Baxter.

Participants who enter the open mic night have the chance to compete in Broadway Unplugged and AussieTheatre’s ‘Project X’.

The winner of Project X will have the opportunity to perform a fully produced solo show.

Launched in June 2012 the project was born as an idea to support the musical theatre industry and to provide a mich needed environment for up and coming performers to have the chance to try new material or build up stage time in a supportive environment.

Whether you are a professional performer, an emerging artist or just interested in getting up and performing your favourite song, is a great opportunity to showcase your talent”
Producer, George Youakim

Entry to the event is via donation, and the Vanguard will have drinks and food available throughout the evening. Doors open at 7pm, Featured Artists from 8pm and Open Mic from 9:30pm.
