What happens when a self confessed “world class procrastinator” sets herself a deadline?

Gillian Cosgriff is fast becoming one of Australia’s most notable cabaret performers. Her songwriting ability, stage presence and razor sharp wit have served her well since graduating from WAAPA in 2010, earning her critical acclaim across the country.

Two months ago, Cosgriff booked herself a ticket to travel overseas and simultaneously set herself a musical challenge: to compose one song a week leading up to her departure.

“I wanted to give myself a challenge to write one song a week for eight weeks. I’ve been talking about it on Facebook and Twitter the whole time” Cosgriff told AussieTheatre.

“Since it seemed only fair that people would get to hear the songs I was talking about incessantly, I’ve put them into a show called, 8 Songs in 8 Weeks.”

The 60 minute show will feature Cosgriff’s 8 latest songs and will be performed at The Butterfly Club in South Melbourne on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 of July at 8pm.

Tickets are available on The Butterfly Club website thebutterflyclub.com
