2012 Helpmann Award presenters announced

The much anticipated 2012 Helpmann Award Ceremony is only 5 days away, and Live Performance Australia (LPA) have now confirmed the list of presenters to appear at this year’s gala at the Sydney Opera House.

On Monday 24 September, members of the Australian arts industry will gather at the Opera Theatre, Sydney Opera House for the the 12th annual Helpmann Awards which is to be hosted by acclaimed performer Simon Burke.

More than twenty five Awards Presenters have been named by LPA  for the 41 Helpmann Award categories today including Amanda Bishop, Blake Bowden, Bille Brown AM, Bryan Brown AM, Darcey Bussell CBE, Daniel Carter, Kate Ceberano, Gerry Connolly, Li Cunxin, Cameron Daddo, Lucy Durack, Marta Dusseldorp, Amanda Harrison, Verity Hunt-Ballard, Genevieve Lemon, Matt Lee, Emma Matthews, David McAllister AM, Lisa McCune, Rob Mills, Simon Phillips, Teddy Tahu Rhodes, Leo Schofield AM, The Hon. George Souris, Lyndon Terracini, Stuart Wagstaff AM, and John Waters.

The ceremony will be broadcast exclusively the following evening on Australia’s arts and entertainment channel STUDIO – channel 132 on Foxtel from 8:30pm. Performances on the will will include presentations from Cirque du Soleil, the casts of South Pacific and A Chorus Line; Artistes from The Australian Ballet; from A Long Way to the Top – Marcia Hines, Jon Stevens, Brian Cadd, Doug Parkinson and Ian Moss; and Aston, Dan Sultan with a Tribute to Jimmy Little AO, and Bernadette Robinson.

Although in recent years the After Party has been held at The Argyle, this year’s celebrations will take place at Marquee at The Star.

    • Same with the LOGIES, all these so called award nights are so predictable AND BORING. (including the sport awards, they should look how the overseas award nights are presented, much more glamour and entertainment).

  • I suspect they all appear voluntarily, so it would probably be fairer to say
    “Same old people who donate their time….Maybe other people should give it a go”
    Possibly.

    All industry awards nights are going to be predominantly of interest to the people who work in that industry. Its just the nature of awards night
