What’s on in July – BRISBANE
July is a pretty busy month for Brisbanites with a host of treats to choose from our major professional companies and venues. A quick run-down is as follows:
QUEENSLAND THEATRE COMPANY
Head Full of Love
This intricate, warm and wisely told tale by Australian playwright Alana Valentine and is directed by QTC’s Artistic Director, Wesley Enoch. It tells the story of two women of different backgrounds, surroundings and upbringings, meeting by chance over a bundle of yarn, who discover that they are not so different after all.

Treasure Island
The GreenHouse @ Queensland Theatre Company and Matrix Theatre brings you the classic children’s story Treasure Island, in a new adaptation with sixteen characters and two actors. A coming of age story, and the original classic pirate tale, Treasure Island explores themes of adventure and escapism, coming of age, role models and overcoming fears.

Witness Relocation
Queensland Theatre Company and Tashmadada present a Workshop with New York’s Witness Relocation. The dance-theatre presentation is the culmination of a two-workshop with local artists with the Artistic Director and Video Designer from Witness Relocation.
Techniques will be used that focus on what is happening in the room, build material from what is on hand and spiral out to claim surprising and endlessly inventive territory.

LA BOITE THEATRE
A Dinner With gravity
Guests arrive at a magical dinner party, where the food and drink dance across the table, winding between the stories shared and the wine poured. Inspired by a dream, this work is made to reawaken that sense of wonder in the world, and make you appreciate the audience member sat right beside you.

In a sparse room, a woman sits waiting for the phone to ring. The audience is positioned as a voyeur in the ensuing conversation between the woman and her ex-partner as they converse one last time on the day before he is to marry another woman. Wires are crossed, truths are twisted and words misinterpreted in a desperate effort to connect.

BRISBANE POWERHOUSE
Dangling Tootsies
Featuring the songs and stories of cabaret legend Agnes Bernelle who was the embodiment of the subversive side of German Cabaret.
Her inimitable songs and stories, using the notoriously wry lyrics of 1930s poet Joachim Ringelnatz (as well as those of Marc Almond and Tom Waits) are brought to life in this unique cabaret performance by the acclaimed Annie Lee.

Thrashing Without Looking

RRAMP: The Collector, The Archmist and the Electrocrat
