Kerrie Anne Greenland to release debut theatre album

Kerrie Anne Greenland, the Helpmann Award winning actress behind Australia’s most recent and much loved portrayal of Eponine in Les Misérables, is set to release her debut album on Friday 11 March. Titled Pictures, the album will feature a collection of classic and modern hits from movie musicals, and according to the performer, will be a snapshot of her life.

Pictures is a small collection of songs from movie musicals and is dedicated to the people in my photos (my family and friends),” says Greenland. “Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to record an album. I had no idea what I wanted to record, but I imagined it being songs from many genres. I feel so lucky that my dream has actually come true.”

From modern classics like ‘Run to You’ from The Bodyguard, to ‘On My Own’ from Les Misérables, and ‘Once Upon A Dream’ from Sleeping Beauty (sung with Daniel Belle), Pictures has been assembled to appeal to lovers of film and theatre and was musically arranged by Steven Baker.

Approaching Baker about the project in 2015, Greenland’s vision for Pictures quickly went international. After agreeing to Baker’s proposed drafts, an orchestra session was organised via Skype from London with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, which Greenland watched via live stream while on tour with Les Misérables in Brisbane.

Greenland has recorded and released a film clip for ‘Run to You’ ahead of the digital and physical release of the full album next week. Pictures is now available for pre-order on iTunes, and we at AussieTheatre can’t wait to hear it!
