Leadling ladies honoured
Perryman, Hayes and Lamond take home special honour.
Three of the pioneering female stars of musical theatre have been honoured at the Helpmann Awards.
Jill Perryman, Nancye Hayes and Toni Lamond were inducted into the hall of fame in a very special night at the Sydney Opera House.
The trio were given a standing ovation when they took to the stage to accept their JC Williamson awards.
Beforehand, Caroline O’Connor, Amanda Harrison and Sharon Millerchip performed a special tribute to Perryman, Hayes and Lamond – singing numbers from the shows they made so successful in Australia.
After the performance, Hayes gave a short speech on behalf of the three women, describing the honour as “an absolute thrill”.
Three three leading ladies of the Golden JC Williamson era, Nancye Hayes OAM (pictured), Toni Lamond AM and Jill Perryman AM MBE showed they still had the X-Factor as they struck a pose for the audience last night, beveled feet and all! Congratulations to these three legends of the Australian stage.
