Guests can explore the totally revamped performance space, situated on the corner of King and Bray Streets in Newtown. The heritage listed site includes the original 100-seat theatre with a brand new 60-seat flexible Studio for smaller performances, a green room for performers, state of the art sound and lighting equipment bar for guests to enjoy before, during and after shows.

The new King Street Theatre will be a cultural hub for all things artistic including drama, musical, cabaret, pocket opera, chamber music, comedy, dance, and the more unique art forms of burlesque, street art, illusion, erotica, and Grand Guignol.

Managing Director of EMU Productions (theatre & music Pty Ltd) and creator of King Street Theatre Markus Weber brings over 40 years of experience as an actor, director, and musical producer. He holds a portfolio of over 150 professional theatre productions including European openings of Sweeney Todd and Chicago.

“King Street Theatre is the home of laughter, tears and surprise,” he said.

“I hope it will be the home for artists of all calibre who make life worth living and a theatre for the audience who are willing to enjoy rather than just go along.

“My vision stems from the notion of artists to live rather than just survive and let them be respected and supported as any other working professional in Australia,” concluded Mr Weber.

King Street Theatre will be supported by major Australian artists including actor and director, Lex Marinos (The Slap), trumpet soloist and Artistic Director of the Penrith Symphony Orchestra, Paul
Terracini and multi- award winning scriptwriter Timothy Daly, who will be profound and permanent fixtures of the theatre.
