Competition entries are now open in three separate music theatre categories for the ANZ Trustees Rob Guest Endowment – Triple Threat Performance, Technical and Musical.

For the sixth year running, the Rob Guest Endowment Award will once more be awarded to an emerging triple threat musical theatre performer, selected by a panel of industry experts, with this year’s winner taking home a $20,000 prize (an $8000 increase on the 2013 prize). Five runners up will each take home $1500.

For the first time this year, the Rob Guest Endowment Technical Award in honour of Sue Nattrass (a $10,000 cash prize) will be awarded to a current member in a technical department of musical theatre. Applicants can be from departments including (but not limited to) stage management, mechanists, sound, lighting, wigs and wardrobe.

The Musician’s Award (also a $10, 000 cash prize) has been introduced this year to help a current musician in the musical theatre genre.

Both new awards are intended to fund the tuition and experience needed to help the successful applicants become leaders in their fields.

RGE Patron John Frost says that this growth in prizes helps demonstrate how the cause is continuing to give back to the industry as it grows.

“This is a unique set of awards honouring a great man of the theatre, who was an inspiration to all he worked with and a teacher and mentor to all,” said Frost.

“We are thrilled this year to be able to expand the awards to encompass not only performers, but to theatre technicians and musicians as well.”

The Rob Guest Endowment (RGE) executive committee – James Thane, Bernadette Hayes and Kellie Dickerson – have confirmed that competition entries in all categories are now open via the new Rob Guest Endowment website.
