Who would have thought the words ‘R-Rated’ and ‘magic’ would ever be used in the same sentence?

Those cheeky boys are back, and nuder than ever.

Mike Tyler and Christopher Wayne are The Naked Magicians, and before you ask; yes they do live up to their title.

I saw their show when it first opened last year and was blown away by the unique entertainment experience these boys offered – magic, comedy, and a strip tease by two talented, cheeky, sexy men.

Towards the end of their show last year, Tyler got his kit off to satisfy the voyeurs in the audience who just needed to see it. In this version 2.0, the audience gets double bang for their buck with Wayne also donning his birthday suit in the name of entertainment. For me though, this show isn’t about the nudity so much as the strip tease and foreplay leading up to it, which the mischievous magic duo very well.

As we enter the theatre, we are greeted by a blow-up sex doll onstage which sets the mood for the night. You can feel the air of anticipation from a room full of women-on-heat, and gay men waiting for their eye candy to step onstage and show them a trick or two.

The show repackages traditional magic by tying up sexy men with their own brand of raunchy comedy and impressive magic tricks, which are even more-so by the fact that their lack of clothing poses the question… where did they hide that? Maybe we don’t want to know…

My other question is… where is Snuggles? For those who don’t know, Snuggles is the cute rabbit mascot whose job is not to be pulled out of a hat, but mostly to cover what is under the top hat that covers Wayne’s privates in promo shoots… now that is one lucky rabbit. However, I did leave wondering where was Snuggles during the show? Was he back in the dressing room too drunk to make an appearance onstage?

The Naked Magicians is a great night out which titillates on so many different levels, but there’s a fine line between good, clean, naughty fun, and base humour which is not-so-sexy. At times, a few overt off-the-cuff comments added a precarious tight-rope into the act. I would hate to see this good-natured show feel like it needs to fall to this level to up-the-anti, as it simply doesn’t need to.

After their stint at the Twelfth Night Theatre, the boys will continue their Australian tour in North Queensland at the following venues:

MAR 15 – PORT DOUGLAS
MAR 17 – TOWNSVILLE
MAR 18 – ROCKHAMPTON
MAR 19 – GLADSTONE
MAR 20 – MACKAY
MAR 21 – ALICE SPRINGS

With shows selling out all over the country, my recommendation is to go and book your tickets now. You won’t be disappointed.

The Naked Magicians… It’s like a hen’s night that everyone’s invited to, without the morning after walk-of-shame.
