Presently starring in a Broadway show by Stephen Sondheim and Wynton Marsalis, A Bed and a Chair at New York’s City Centre, Peters will take her final bow in that show and then embark on a worldwide tour that includes the US, Australia and Canada. The famous red-head diva previously visited Australia when she headlined the Adelaide cabaret festival in 2009 where, by all accounts, she truly raised the roof. A DVD was recorded of her concert at the Adelaide Festival Hall and it shows the songstress at the top of her game. Now audiences can look forward once again to the legends unique voice and powerful stage presence when she returns in 2014.

According to (and you can read the full article here), Ms. Peters’ Australian tour will kick off in Melbourne at Her Majesty’s Theatre on March 31 and continue to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on April 3, Conrad Jupiters on the Gold Coast on April 5 before wrapping up with a concert at the Theatre Royal in Sydney on April 7. This final venue may yet stand to be corrected as so far all reports suggest that the Royal will be closed next year as part of the MLC Centre’s renovations.

Information is yet to be released regarding when and where tickets will go on sale for the tour. With one of the most extensive musical catalogues of any Broadway leading lady and the skills to match, there truly is no one like Bernadette Peters and we are lucky to have her back.

More information as it becomes available – prepare Australia, Bernadette is coming back!
