David Harris to star as Billy Crocker in Anything Goes

Well-loved Australian leading man David Harris has landed his next role as Billy Crocker in Goodspeed Musicals’ Anything Goes in Connecticut, opening in April this year. And we wish we could be there to see it!

David HarrisDavid Harris has had a hugely successful career in Australia, starring in shows such
as Legally Blonde, Into The Woods, Miss Saigon and Wicked. In 2015, he moved to New York to pursue more theatre opportunities and ‘to be involved in shows at the ground level’. Whilst in America, he has been involved in many workshops and readings including a recent reading of Jekyll & Hyde and a new musical, Rain. Most recently, he starred as Jean Valjean in Connecticut Repertory Theatre’s Les Miserables.

Anything Goes features music and lyrics by Cole Porter. Billy Crocker sneaks aboard the SS American in hopes of pursuing heiress Hope Harcourt. But amidst a passenger list that includes Public Enemy No. 13, and the sultry nightclub singer, Reno Sweeney, many humorous antics and mixed up romances ensure.

Daniel Goldstein, who has formerly directed Damn Yankees and Hello, Dolly! will direct Goodspeed Musicals’ Anything Goes. Harris will star alongside Broadway great Rashidra Scott as evangelist turned nightclub singer Reno Sweeney (Beautiful the Carole King Musical, Avenue Q, Sister Act). The principle cast also includes Stephen DeRosa as Moonface Martin (On The Town, Betrayal, Hairspray, Into The Woods), Desiree Davar as Erma (West Side Story) and Hannah Florence as Crocker’s ingénue love interest Hope Harcourt (Gigi, Scandalous).
