Since its inception in 1981, many Mountains residents have enjoyed musical theatre productions by the Blue Mountains Musical Society (BMMS). While usually only performing two shows per year, the BMMS will this year take the exciting step of performing an extra show.

Director Peter Shepherd, known for previous BMMS productions of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ and ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’, will delight you with a Gilbert and Sullivan spectacular.

‘Treasures of Gilbert and Sullivan’ is a tribute to the famous composers, featuring highlights from four favourite comic operas, ‘HMS Pinafore’, ‘The Gondoliers’, ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ and ‘The Mikado’.

Peter has assembled quality soloists with a fabulous ensemble, backed by a full orchestra to entertain fans of Gilbert and Sullivan.

As well as an extra show, the BMMS have announced an extra venue. The Wentworth Falls School of Arts will provide upper Mountains residents with quality entertainment at a local venue.

The Springwood Civic Centre will have two performances on Saturday, March 26, and The Wentworth Falls School of Arts will be the site for two performances on Saturday, April 2. Both venues will provide a memorable experience, for Gilbert and Sullivan enthusiasts and new patrons alike!

The BMMS is a non-profit community based group whose goal is to provide and promote high quality, low cost entertainment to the lovers of musical theatre in the Blue Mountains and across Greater Sydney.

Whilst proud of its amateur status the BMMS produces musical theatre that is the rival of many professional productions.

With four performances of ‘Treasures of Gilbert and Sullivan’, be sure to get your tickets early. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for concession. To book visit www.bmms.org.au or phone 8019 0283 (a $4.95 booking fee applies to all transactions). For more information contact 4739 0555.
