Matthew Robinson’s much anticipated Singing Actor Workshops in Adelaide enable participants to learn and perform music from his brand new musical, which no-one in Australia has had the chance to workshop yet! There are 9 places left for the second workshop on January 24 and 25 – BOOK NOW! Registrations close January 7, 2012.

2011 Churchill Fellowship winner Matthew Robinson will present two very special 2-day workshops for performers in Adelaide this January.

Robinson is an actor and multi award-winning book-writer, composer and lyricist who writes for musical theatre, television and large-scale corporate events.

Having won a 2011 Churchill Fellowship and the 2011 UTAS Stephen Schwartz Songwriting Award, Matthew has recently returned from New York City where his second musical received two readings at Playwrights Horizons under the mentorship of multi Grammy and Oscar-winning composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz.

Participants of his SINGING ACTOR WORKSHOP will have the chance to work with Robinson in a two day musical theatre intensive masterclass. The 15 members of the workshop will have the opportunity to present songs of their own choice, as well as workshop scenes and a song from Metro Street and preview brand new material from Matthew’s upcoming second musical (which was recently workshopped in New York).

After the first Adelaide workshop on January 21 and 22 filled up in 2 days, Robinson added another masterclass to take place on January 24 and 25.

“Part of been awarded a 2011 Churchill Fellowship included a commitment to share my writing with artists across Australia. In The Singing Actor workshop, the participants get to expand and refine their approach to scene and song through the eyes of the person who creates it. At the same time, they get access to new Australian musical material that isn’t available anywhere else”, said Matthew Robinson.

He is particularly thrilled to be offering these workshops in Adelaide, the city which gave his Helpmann Award Nominated musical Metro Street its world premiere three years ago.

“I’ve always felt so artistically at home in Adelaide. Adelaide has been an immense supporter of my work, from the 2005 and 2006 Adelaide Cabaret Festivals to the World Premiere of Metro Street in 2009 through the State Theatre Company of South Australia”, Robinson told AussieTheatre.com.
