Michael Falzon has wasted no time in finding a new musical to sink his teeth into. Just weeks after his Rock Of Ages Sydney contract was ‘postponed’ it has been announced that he will star opposite Rachael Beck in the Australian Premiere of Ordinary Days next year.

The Australian Premiere of Ordinary Days, by American music theatre composer Adam Gwon, will begin previews on January 19 and open on January 24 at the Darlinghurst Theatre, Sydney, in a joint venture with the critically acclaimed independent musical theatre company Squabbalogic (A New Brain, [title of show]).  The Rock Of Ages Sydney season had been scheduled to open on January 14, so this whirlwind casting couldn’t have come at a better time for Falzon.  Rachael Beck (Beauty and the Beast, Summer Rain) and Michael Falzon (War of the Worlds, Rock of Ages), both pictured, will be joined by Jay James-Moody (A New Brain, Jerry Springer the Opera) and Erica Lovell (STC’s Spring Awakening, Opera Australia’s A Little Night Music) for the month-long production.

Directed by Grace Barnes, the resident director fot the Australian tours of West Side Story and Guys and Dolls, and musically directed by Paul Geddes, this production of the 2010 Off-Broadway hit explores a modern, youthful, and very human take on metropolitan life.

It tells the story of four young New Yorkers whose lives intersect on bustling streets and quiet rooftops as they search for fulfilment, happiness, love and cabs. Through a score of vibrant and memorable songs, their experiences ring startlingly true of the universal aim to craft ones own life story.

This incredible cast will bring this refreshingly honest, funny and beautiful musical theatre gem about making real connections with people, despite our increasingly complex modern lives and finding where we fit.
