QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas said that all stops were pulled out to open the Concert Hall last Saturday (January 29) for the performance of Looking Through A Glass Onion by John Waters.
“The Concert Hall is now set to host a fabulous line-up of concerts including Australian Chamber Orchestra with Teddy Tahu Rhodes, Johann Strauss Ensemble and a sensational series of concerts by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra,” said Kotzas.
“We have also been given the all clear to open our Cremorne Theatre for the season of Queensland Theatre Company’s Sacre Bleu! commencing 7 February and have welcomed the company in this week for bump in and rehearsals,” he said.
Queensland Symphony Orchestra CEO, Patrick Pickett commented; “The QSO is looking forward to our first Maestro concert of the year at our home at QPAC on 12 February. The arts have a role to play during difficult times. We provide the beauty, the escapism and the joy which can help our community heal. We encourage our audience to come out and enjoy the arts at QPAC, buy a coffee or dinner and help support the precinct’s recovery in a very practical way.”
Queensland Theatre Company’s General Manager Libby Anstis echoed these sentiments, “Despite the significant flood damage to Queensland Theatre Company premises, the production of Sacre Bleu! was our first priority in our getting back up and running. We’re delighted that the Cremorne Theatre has been restored to working order so quickly and encourage audiences to come along and enjoy an evening of pure escapist fun – Brisbane could do with a laugh right now.”
QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas concluded, “Three of our four theatres are now back in business. We appreciate the support and patience of our audiences and hirers as we take the necessary time to ensure our theatres are certified safe and secure for staff and the general public. It’s on with the shows at QPAC and we look forward to welcoming our audiences for positive and uplifting live performance experiences in 2011.”
