With a book by Brian Crawley and music by Tony-award winning composer Jeanine Tesori, Violet draws its musical inspiration from gospel, soul, and bluegrass to tell the story of a woman on a journey to find salvation.

Our review of the Sydney season praised the production, and noted that Butel’s sharp direction brings focus and clear intent to every moment. The cast all deliver and fulfill the demands of a show of such emotional stakes, bringing joy and soul to this production.”

Three-time Helpmann Award winner Mitchell Butel directs, with musical direction by Lucy Bermingham, choreography by Amy Campbell, costume design by Lucetta Stapleton, set design by Simon Greer, and lighting design by Ross Graham.

The Melbourne cast will include Samantha Dodemaide (Anything Goes, Sweet Charity), Steve Danielsen (Wicked, Legally Blonde), Barry Conrad (X Factor), Damien Bermingham (Chicago, Strictly Ballroom), Katie Elle-Reeve (Hair), Ryan Gonzalez (Strictly Ballroom, Legally Blonde) and introducing Luisa Scrofani as Young Violet.

Melbourne, you’re in for a treat!
